My New Helpers in the Kitchen

Aside from my new dishwashing partner, I have 2 new helpers in my kitchen as of today! I knew that the plumber was coming today to fix some stuff for the new septic system, so I went out and bought a garbage disposer and a new kitchen faucet. After 4 years I have kinda gotten used to not having a garbage disposer (because we couldn't get one with our old septic setup), but I'm SOOO glad to finally have one again! It's the quietest disposer ever too!! The plumber even commented that he couldn't believe how quiet it was and asked where I got it. It's really so quiet that you barely even know that it's on unless you listen for it. And I LOVE my new faucet! The old one was leaking pretty bad so I thought it was time for a new one and I might as well upgrade (you can see it in the picture above). It's the kind with the pull-out sprayer in the faucet head, and I like the single handle for turning it on and setting the temp. It also has a soap dispenser for the 3rd hole. As you can see in the picture, Annabelle and I washed dishes tonight and I liked it!

And, btw, from a "green" perspective, apparently the jury is still out on the garbage disposer. Some say that it's good because it breaks down the food waste so that it will fully decompose faster than it would if it wasn't chopped up in a landfill somewhere. Also, it creates less waste so it requires less transportation of waste, less bags to contain the waste, etc. Other's say it's bad because of the power requirement and the water required to flush the food waste through the plumbing system. So... I'll side with the "good" camp on this one. :) Can you tell I've been reading about green-ness a lot?

I was thinking the exact SAME thing as Nikki. I can hardly keep up with all your posts on comment-a-thon week :) Yay for little helpers!

If only Annabelle could actually do the dishes. Then she might be able to earn her keep. :)

Good for you, working harder to go green! I'm working on that myself, and forcing it upon my fellow managers and cast members at work. I like thedailygreen.com. They update a new tip every day...pretty easy ideas!

Scott loved your concrete counter tops. We found a guy who specializes in them and ours is in the process of being cured. I love the long neck faucets. It is so cute how kids want to help when there small. It changes when they get older.

Jason and I went "green" by replacing our reg light bulbs with energy saving fluorescent ones. They were talking about it on the today show and after seeing how much money it can save you and how much better it is for the enviornment, we decided to do our part.
