The Amazing Team

Back in 2004, Carla and I were determined to be contestants on The Amazing Race. We didn't come up with this brilliant idea until like 2 days before the application deadline, so we made a mad dash to apply for a passport for me, fill out the pages and pages of application forms, and make this amazing application video. Our angle was that we were two fun and adventurous software engineering females, but after watching the video when all was said and done, we realized that it looked more like our angle was two fun and adventurous software engineering females who were having a lesbian love affair. We figured maybe that angle would work too, but unfortunately, neither one did and we never heard from The Amazing Race folks.

My favorite part of the whole video is the bloopers at the end. As crappy as this application video is, it was 100 times better than our attempts at an interesting video when we applied for the next season of The Amazing Race as a team with Ben and John. The best part of that application was the selection process that Carla and I went through when deciding who to ask to be our 3rd and 4th team mates (they were doing larger teams that season). We never actually applied that time because we decided that our video was rediculously horrible and boring, but I'm sure there's some great footage that one of us will run across in the future and we'll laugh hysterically at it (and probably put it on youtube... or whatever method kids those days are using to share videos).

I like how you girls repeatedly say how "adventurous" you are... maybe you should have played that part up a bit more. ; )
