Trick-or-Treat!

Annabelle and Halle had a great time trick-or-treating tonight! Annabelle ended up being a super-cute Traveling Rockstar, but that wasn't her first costume tonight. Since Corgan was a duck, I was going to dress Annabelle up in her backup costume from the Halloween party, a farm girl. Good thing I didn't need that backup the other night because she wouldn't wear it either! The backup costume was simple and consisted of a flannel shirt, overalls, and boots. I got her all dressed up, but as soon as she took a step in the boots she proclaimed "boots hut!" (hurt) and wouldn't walk in them. She just layed on the floor and cried. I tried to get her to come to my room to see that I have boots too (and was even prepared to wear them tonight if that would work), but she cried all the way to my room so I went to the backup-backup costume of a Rockstar, which turned out to be adorable! I don't know if you can see it in this picture, but she even had on blue eyeshadow and dark eyeliner in the corners of her eyes (good thing Ben wasn't around). :)

Annabelle did great trick-or-treating. She was lagging behind Halle and we even skipped a few houses that Halle hit because she kept getting caught up in the decorations and people's pets! She loved when someone had a dog or cat, and even ran into one lady's house when she spotted her cat! Fortunately the lady was nice and didn't mind Belle running around in her house and even showed Annabelle her fish before we continued on. One of the first houses that we came to was manned by a nice lady who had a couple of balloons. Annabelle stood there and talked about the balloons for so long that the lady finally gave her one of the balloons, which couldn't have made her any happier! She was delayed by the balloon because she kept stopping to hit it around.

Although she didn't say her perfectly, Annabellle managed to get out a "trick-or-treat" a few times. She had the "treat" word down (because she loves to give our pets their treats), but the whole phrase took more work to put together. She did get a "ti-treat" type thing out though. I was impressed with how good Belle was about carrying her pumpkin bucket the whole night. It was very cute. :) It's funny how different it is to be on the parent-end of trick-or-treating. Seeing Annabelle light up at the funniest things was great! When she started saying her version of "trick-or-treat" I was brought back to when I was little and my dad told my sister "Say trick-or-treat Sweetie", so she'd say "Trick-or-treat Sweetie!" with a HUGE grin on her face and she got SO much more candy than I did because she was so darn cute! I was jealous since she was definitely the cute one of the two of us, but since she shared her candy, it wasn't so bad. :)

I'm so glad that we were able to join the Konickis for trick-or-treating in their neighborhood which is perfect for trick-or-treating. The houses aren't too far apart so you don't have to walk forever (especially with little ones) and they know everyone in their section of the cul-de-sac so we didn't have to worry about bad people who were out to get the little kids. Everyone was so nice too and had their houses decorated great for the holiday. It was lots of fun, and I hope we're able to join Halle again and again as the girls grow up and enjoy Halloween and trick-or-treating more and more!

See my pictures of the night, and Nikki's pictures too. Happy Halloween!
