Christmas Counting

For a while now Annabelle has seemed to understand the concept of counting. She'd point to items as if she was counting them and emphatically say a word that was sometimes an actual number (but usually not). But now, all of the sudden, she's counting to 10 in both English AND Spanish! One of the times that she usually counts is when she counts each step as we go up or down the stairs, and I just realized today that I recognized a couple of her emphatic words as Spanish numbers. So, tonight we got her to count some ornaments on the Christmas tree for us and she counted them all of the way up to 10 in Spanish! That is TOTALLY Dora's doing... I NEVER count for her in Spanish unless I happen to mindlessly count along with Dora. So, then I had her count in English and discovered that she could do that too! This seems to have just happened overnight! So crazy!

I managed to get the video camera out and got Annabelle counting to 10 in Spanish twice and then in English. She got a little distracted and skipped some numbers both times and I have to get her started with uno or one, but she does pretty darn good! We're so proud of her!

Wow!! She counts GREAT! Another reassurance that watching TV isn't all bad if she's actually learning from it, which clearly she is!

She is so cute. I love how she starts with two. Ella does the same thing. She'll count all the way to 10, but she starts at 2. Refuses to say one! I love how clear her spanish is - maybe I should have Ella watch TV more!

How cute! What a smart girl! Kelson will teach her 1-10 in French- as I'm sure this will be her second language. Had a great time hanging out with you and your wonderful family. Love you!
