Daddy and Me

Keri came back from the store today with a bunch of presents for Annabelle and me in the form of new books. One book piqued my interest in particular, called "Daddy and Me" -- the sequel to Annabelle's old favorite "Grammy and Me". We sat down this evening and read it together, and it was great, she loved it, though I have to say it doesn't paint a very realistic picture of her Daddy. You see the book is all about the daughter character helping her daddy complete a outdoor project: you know, really handyman / carpenter stuff--using things like saws, nails, paint brushes, lawn mowers--basically stuff I have little practical (or should I say successful?) experience with. Anyway, reading it with Annabelle I couldn't help but wonder if some day she'll ask me to go out and build her a picnic table or something. I've said half jokingly in the past if I gave up technology one day I'd learn how to be a carpenter. Of course, I said this after watching a reality TV show about Amish folk who were forced to live in the city. But still, it would be cool to actually be able to build something with my hands that didn't involve typing and staring into a computer screen.
