Today I braved my first trip of lunch and running some errands with both kids and no other adults traveling with me! I got up at 9 am and started getting ready then for a lunch date at 11:20... and I ALMOST made it on time! I got myself and Annabelle showered, Corgan fed (a few times) and dressed, pumped a bottle of milk, Annabelle fed and dressed (complete with pig tails and other accessories), blowdried and styled my hair, applied makeup, wrapped a present (and by "wrapped", I mean threw it in a bag), got together other items needed for my errands, and made it out the door by around 11:10! It's only took me a little over 2 hours to get 3 people ready... WOW! :)
Anyway, on the way to lunch, I noticed that my gas light was on. I decided to brave it and we did make it to lunch without running out of gas. Corgan slept through all of lunch, and aside from acting like the most shy little girl ever at the beginning of lunch, Annabelle was pretty good too.
After lunch, the Donald clan went to the printers to approve the proof for Corgan's birth announcement (I can't wait to get these sent out... I'm pretty proud of them and LOVE how they turned out!). Again... Corgan slept through it, and Annabelle was pretty good with only a minor "no-no" of picking up one of the awards that the printing company had out on display (she didn't break it or anything though).
We then stopped at the gas station (FINALLY) on the way to the post office to check on the postage for our announcements. This was a little more eventful than the printers stop. Fortunately I got the parking spot closest to the door (God Loves Me!) and there was only 1 other person in line ahead of me when we got there. I had Corgan still sleeping in his carrier and Annabelle was walking like a good girl (haha!). After about 1 minute of waiting, Annabelle got impatient and starting going after the post office stuffed animals, post cards, doors that she thought needed to "abre", and other things. I was trying to explain my postage needs to the VERY patient post office man, while keeping an eye on busy Annabelle, when Corgan decided that he'd had enough of this sleeping business and started SCREAMING! So... multitasking Mommy was rocking Corgan with her foot (and repeatedly sticking the pacifier back in his mouth), trying to keep an eye on busy-body Belle, and counting stamps with the postman. I took my eye off of Belle for half a second and when I turned back around she was laying on the floor, but she was quiet and close to me so I let her stay there. She then jumped up and announced to me that she had found a bug. So, she entertained the nearly 10 other people who were now in line behind us with her ant tracking skills, while I finished up. Despite Corgan's screaming, the other people in line seemed to be amused by my situation and no one seemed upset as I walked past them on my way out the door (at least I didn't hear anyone cheer to see us leaving so I assume they weren't upset). :)
At the post office, I actually felt like an old pro at this mommy thing because I didn't feel embarrassed or overwhelmed with all of the commotion at all. I found it to be pretty comical and I just couldn't wait to get home and blog about it. :D
P.S. Corgan stopped crying and fell asleep again the second we walked out the door of the post office and hasn't woken up yet (45 minutes later)! Go figure!

Yeah Momma! It's a great feeling when you realize you can do it! I have learned it's much better to laugh in those crazy kid situations than lose your mind :) It will get easier every day!

Way to go! It's hard enough getting out the door on time with just one :) - Chels
Your Mommy is very proud of you. I remember those days and I know that some day you will look around and you will be the only one in your family standing in line and wonder where the time went. Enjoy it all! Keep laughing .. you are a great Mommy and have two very blessed children!

Way to go Keri!!!!
Wow! You do sound like an ol' pro.
Totally know what you mean. I was terrified to bring the 2 kids out the first time, but you get used to it quick. The post office story is hilarious! I can just picture it. :) People generally have sympathy for you everywhere except restaurants and airplanes.
