I started out the night with him sleeping on me on the couch, and he slept that way from about 11:30 pm to 4 am. This is how most nights have been starting out lately since that's when I seem to get the most sleep. Then at 4 he woke up so I fed him and tried to put him down in his bassinet so I could go to bed... wasn't happening! After about 2 hours of trying to get him to bed, Keith heard my frustration and woke up to see what he could do to help. Unfortunately, there wasn't much that he could do, but he kindly tried to make me as comfortable as possible and played errand boy whenever I needed anything. I think around 6:30, Corgan FINALLY went to sleep in his own bed, but was back up not an hour later! *sigh!*
Once he was back up, Corgan never really went back to sleep before Belle woke up at about 9:30 am, so the sleeping in that Belle attempted to gift to me was wasted. :( So, my first day alone started out with a VERY sleepy Mommy... not a good thing.
Belle is napping now and so is Corgan (but I'm wearing him in my Ultimate Baby Wrap, he's not in his bed). Corgan still hasn't slept more than about 30 minutes alone today, but Belle has been a very good girl so it's balancing out. And, of course, as I'm typing this Corgan has now woken up screaming... back to being Mommy...

That sounds so similar to my day! Erin was being a pill and wouldn't sleep anywhere but on me for more than 15 minutes. Even on me, she only slept like 30 min in the Moby wrap. She finally fell asleep in her swing at about 5:45 and has been sleeping ever since. I am debating on whether to wake her up before I go to bed to feed so she doesn't wake up 5 minutes after I fall asleep.
Oh, I wish Papa and I were there to help but I know this is just temporary and you will all survive. Maybe try letting Keith give him a bottle and put him to bed.. I'm glad our little Belle is being good. We love you!
Sounds exhausting. One day, you'll look back on this (or so they say)... and be reminded of all the extra time you got to spend with him as a baby! The time you weren't wasting away sleeping! Haha. Good luck... hugs!
Wow, it does sound crazy!! I'm sure you'll get into a routine with them soon. Have you tried putting Corgan to sleep in his carseat? It's the ONLY way that Ethan would sleep for more than an hour stretch at a time his first 2 months. Just a thought...
Wow- I have to say that after reading all the comments, I feel relieved that Kelson is doing as good as she is. I thought I was having it rough. I had the same problem with Kelson- not wanting to sleep by herself. You may want to look into a bouncer/vibrating seat- its a wonderful babysitter and Kelson has slept for over 3 hrs in it at one time. She loves it. Plus its safer than a car seat and gives them room to stretch if they want. I know you are doing great and it gets so frustrating, but you just have to breathe and remember how awesome this experience is. Your gonna do great. Belle turned out wonderful! Love you.
Am I sure I want this baby on the outside :-) I remember those days with Zach though. Zach was the same way. He would only sleep if I was holding him. I finally ending up pulling him into bed with me. He would nurse while I was sleeping. During the day the only way I could put him down was in his swing. He loved to sleep in his swing (I didn't have a baby wrap though.)
Good luck. Keep us posted. I'm sure it will get better.
I have a few friends who read "On Becoming Baby Wise." They rave about how well the techniques work for getting your baby to sleep. I used an infant massage book with Shelby...I'll see if I can find it for you :) I think it's just a matter of finding what works for your baby...they are all so different. You'll get the hang of juggling two babies soon! I was alone with my 2 starting when Shelby was three days old...sometimes it's better when your forced to jump right in...hang in there!
