Goodnight King Kong

Last night while I was feeding Corgan in my bedroom, I was channel surfing and saw that the original King Kong was on. The 1933 version is #43 on the AFI's Top 100 Movies of All Times list, and watching every one of the top 100 is on my 43 Things list, so I stopped to watch it. I had always been interested in seeing how true to the original the latest version of King Kong is too. About an hour into the movie, Annabelle came in to check on "baby" and she got interested in the "gorilla" movie too. She watched the last hour of it with me, and wanted "more" when it was over. :)

Tonight, I was going through Belle's nite-nite routine and we were reading her Lovebug book. One of the animals in the book is a monkey, and we stopped on that page to talk about the monkey for a second. I mentioned that the monkey looks like a gorilla, and Annabelle immediately made the connection to the King Kong movie the night before and kept saying "gorilla", "fall", "uh-oh", "pull" (he pulled two people who were hanging on a rope off of a cliff back up), "down", "uh-oh"... she was so serious about it too! We talked about the gorilla movie for a while, then when I tried to move on she kept going back to it. I said "Did he carry the girl?" and she answered with a scream, just like the girl screamed in the movie. :D She also kept clapping like the gorilla did, talked about how the gorilla went "nite-nite" in the end, and asking for "more" gorilla. Although I read the rest of her bedtime book to her, and then rocked her through a song before putting her into bed, Annabelle talked about the "gorilla" through the story and rocking and kept on talking about it until I left the room for her to go to sleep. It was very cute and I'm SO impressed that she remembered so many details about the movie, but I hope she doesn't have nightmares tonight from thinking about it. I don't think she will, because she didn't view the gorilla as scary, but I guess we'll see.

Wow - she has an amazing memory and recall for her age!! That is cool that she could make that connection...
Speaking of top 100 AFI movies, we should get together during the day and try to watch some of those since we both have the same goal on our 43 things list :) = Chelsi
