Big Paper and Crayolas

On top of being a great photographer, Auntie Erica leaves great gifts behind after providing her awesome photography services. :) When Erica was here taking pictures a couple of weeks ago, she left the used paper from her background for Annabelle for her to color on. Belle used one sheet that day, and we saved the other one. She asked to get the second sheet out today and had lots of fun coloring on it. She really enjoys when I trace parts of her body (or her whole body) for her to color too. Noctice the purple Belle outline that she's coloring in the picture (and yes, that's a bulge in the crotchal area, but it's from a VERY wet diaper).

Belle knows all of the colors in her basic 10 pack of Crayolas! She says blue, purple, and yellow pretty clearly, says "der" for red (crazy how she reverses the letters in short words sometimes), "geen" for green, "back" for black, and "brrrn" for brown. She still doesn't say orange, but she has no problem picking it out when asked. I love asking her what color something is because she yells the color name with such enthusiasm! It's funny though that lots of times when I ask her what color something is, she won't even look at the item, but yells either blue, purple, or "geen" with lots of excitement. When she actually looks at it though, she'll get it right most times. :) She's also great at identifying shapes now and can pick out and say her own version of circle, triangle, square, heart, and star. We have a vtech video game system that she LOVES to play with that has really helped her learn both her colors and shapes. I didn't care for it much at first, but I think it's a pretty good game system for her age now.

I'm not sure I would have noticed the bulge if you hadn't pointed it out but that is hillarious!

Belle is doing really well. Zach knows all of the names of his colors but I truly think he might be color blind. He rarely ever gets the colors correctly matched.

That's awesome that she knows all those colors and can say them all. Halle still has a mental block against colors. She knows all her shapes and loves talking about shapes, but when I even mention a color she instantly starts ignoring me. She hasn't attempted to say a single color name yet either. Maybe Halle will be more interested in architecture than graphic design. :)
