Back to Bed

Well... it's back to bed for me... bed rest, that is. With Annabelle I was on bedrest for about 1.5 weeks for preterm labor, and now I'm on it for Corgan.

I had my 35 week appointment today, and due to an "icky sticky" incident (you'll get that if you are a Scrubs fan... if not, don't worry about it), the doctor decided to check me out to see if I was dilating... and I was. I'm at 1cm already. He said that Corgan is still high up though, so he hasn't dropped, which is good. However, he's still 2 weeks from "full term", so they want me to be on bed rest until 37 weeks so that he can cook a bit longer and his lungs will fully develop. If he were to be born right now, chances are very good that he'd be absolutely fine in the long term, but he'd likely be in the NICU on breathing machines. Of course, we want to avoid the NICU if at all possible, so I'll just have to really take it easy for the next couple of weeks. Keith will be helping out a bunch, Nikki's already made plans to come over to help out while Keith's at work, and my teenage cousin, Olivia, will be here next week so I'm sure she'll be a huge help with Belle! The toughest part will be not lifting Annabelle... especially since I won't be able to for a few weeks after Corgan is born too. :( That part makes me very sad. I don't like the thought that I won't be able to put her to bed for so long. :(

I know we'll all manage, but this is kinda poopie. I know I don't have a nursery to finish or anything, but it sucks that I won't be able to baby Annabelle during my last few weeks with her as the only child. So... off to bed (or at least couch) with me now...

P.S. Keith is being a great daddy and is a huge help already.

I didn't see this entry when I read the other one. I was 1 cm at 36 weeks, but I guess you are more at risk because of PTL with Belle? Bedrest never even came up during my appt. Is it because of the history, you think?

Nikki and I were discussing that too. Both of us were put on bedrest with our first babies (we have the same doctor), although we were both at 1cm before 35 weeks (and Nikki was contracting too, but I wasn't), he wouldn't take us off of bedrest until after 37 weeks. It does seem that it isn't uncommon to be 1cm at 36 weeks though, so I'm not sure... maybe our doctor is just extra precautious? I'm definitely going to try to take it as easy as possible this week, and hopefully I'll still be at 1cm at my 36 week appt then I'll feel better about doing the more-regular things again.

Correction... with Annabelle I was 35 weeks, and Nikki was before 35 weeks when we were put on bedrest.

I hope it is not too hard being on bedrest. I can't imagine, but I am hoping you are finding lots to read and do. I love the barn pix. How did you set up your photo gallery? I love the borders!
