Freakin' Teenagers

For about a month now, I've been planning to go to a nice Christmas dinner with some friends on Thursday (TOMORROW) night. Not long after making the plans, I made arrangements for a babysitter who I haven't ever used, but I've met her and she seemed responsible even if she's only 15. She is the daugher of a friend's best friends, so I trusted that she's going to reliable too. Apparently not. She called me yesterday to say that she is getting a crown Thursday morning, so she doesn't think she'll be up to babysitting. Are you freakin' kidding me? Fortunately, a great mommy-friend (THANKS HOPIE!) is able to watch Annabelle so I still get to go to this dinner that I've been looking forward to all year (it's at the Melting Pot... I missed out on their martinis at dinner last year so I'm SOOOO going to make up for it this year). I actually feel much better leaving her with Hope since Annabelle's sleeping schedule is all screwed up and she may be a bit feisty as the night goes on, but still... UGH! I was hoping that I'd find a teenager babysitter who I can count on and feel comfortable calling to watch Bellee at anytime (even if teenage babysitters do make like $7/hour now!).

A couple of months ago, I tried another teenage babysitter who didn't even have to do anything (Belle was asleep the whole time), so I don't know how they would've interacted. I asked her to come over the following Wednesday to watch Annabelle while I did some things around the house (so I could get things done, and see how she does with Bellee), and she agreed to come over but then just never showed, never called, or anything. Did I already say "UGH!"?

Why can't I find a teenager like I was? I'd think that karma would mean that I could find a babysitter who is great with children (even infants) AND reliable?!? Maybe someday...
