Happy First Father's Day

Keith just got back from Europe yesterday, so we spent his First Father's Day just relaxing. I made breakfast for Keith (once again confirming my belief that I'm not meant to cook without a recipe) and we all just spent the day napping and doing relaxing things together. It was unusually nice out today (only like mid-80s!), so I took the opportunity to do some work in the yard while Keith played with Belle. Then tonight "My Baby Daddy" opened his presents from his girls. We got him a new quilted hammock since he loves to take Belle outside to chill, a baby basketball net (for 6 month olds), a toddler songs CD (so that he can learn the words), a floating baby book for the bath, pictures of Belle in a frame that matches his new office desk, a shirt that says "Daddy of an Expert Downloader" (I made it!), and some yummies.

It's hard to believe that it's been a whole year since Keith first learned that our family would soon be expanding! I learned that I was pregnant just a few days before Father's Day 2005, so, on the suggestion of my friend Carla, I waited until Father's Day to break the news to Keith. It was SOOO hard to not say anything, but it was so neat to be able to tell him on Father's Day! I broke the news to Keith by giving him a book called "The Expectant Father". I inscribed it with something like "I can't wait to share this next big event in our lives with you!" inside the cover of the book. He read my inscription and replied "Awe... we're going to share a baby someday" (not realizing what I was really saying). My response was "Yeah... like on February 21st!" His jaw dropped and he must've asked me the question "Really?" a dozen different ways! Once it began to sink in (as much as it could sink in that quickly), we were both SO excited and had the hardest time keeping it a secret during the obligatory 12 weeks of secrecy. Now, a year later, we're so excited to be able to share our family with the world through the power of the internet!

Happy Father's Day to all of you daddies and daddies-to-be!

Pictures of our Father's Day, and other events during the past week, are up on our gallery.
