Annabelle's First Hotel

We are planning to bring Annabelle into the world at Holmes Regional Medical Center here in Melbourne. It's very close to home, they are supposed to have a great staff and NICU, it's the hospital prefered by my doctor (since his practice is just about 2 minutes from it), and they are supposed to have an awesome Mother/Baby Ward ready by the time Annabelle comes! They have been saying for months that it will be done "soon", but they have assured me (haha) that it should be done in December, so keep your fingers crossed!

Here's an "artists rendering" of what the new ward should look like: http://www.health-first.org/hospitals_services/hrmc/expansion_ob_drawings.cfm

Pretty nice; huh?

Update...Jan 7, 2006

Monday, January 2nd we went on the first tour of the new Mommy/Baby Wing at the hospital. It was pretty empty since they just opened it up, but it looked really nice! It was very non-hospital (aka "white and sterile") looking, has nice big rooms, and very good "extras" (a big shower in each room, TV/DVD/CD players, comfy reclining chairs and rockers, etc.).

It was funny 'cause the nursery that you think of as normally being filled with lots of crying and sleeping babies was totally empty. They said that was because most moms are opting to keep the babies in their rooms during daytime hours and because they'd just opened up so they didn't have lots of moms in there yet.

I was very happy to see the rooms done, and can't believe that it's only a matter of a few weeks before we'll be spending a couple of days there and will have our Annabelle!!!
